My 10th silver coin this year

22 Sep

I hunted McAdams park for lunch today. I checked a couple of areas of the park that I hadn’t yet detected. I was in Discovery mode; that is to say, I walked faster than usual and swung my coil loosely. I wanted to get a feel for the new areas; were they super trashy? (one very trashy, the other fairly clean), were there many good signals? (no on both), how was the soil? (easy to dig on both but it has rained lately).
Towards the end of my lunch hour I was checking around an old tree when I got a sweet signal on the AT Pro. The Target ID read 81-82. The depth indicated was 4 inches. I put the Lesche digger to work and 3 inches or so deep, a coin of an unmistakable silky silver color came to view. I was grinning before I even took it out of the hole.
It was my first Roosevelt silver dime of the year and my 10th silver coin so far in 2011.

I have been finding wheat cents from the 40’s in this park so I knew there would be silver here. Now I need to go on Detection mode and start working this park very carefully. Hopefully more silver is in my future.

Beat up and dirty but it's mine!

Wheats are always a good sign…If you are finding the wheats, then there is sure to be silver there. Ohhh the world to see that “unmistakable silky silver color”… once again. Been a bit of a dry spell for me.
