Two more Buffaloes from the old trashy park

19 Feb

I hunted this morning with friends from the Friendly Metal Detecting Forum. I was spanked hard! They both found silver and all I found was a 1944S  wheat cent.

We had a great time at lunch time though. I couldn’t ask for better guys to hunt with.

Later, I decided to go out again and try my luck. This time I went to the old trashy park and spent a couple of hours around the old Girl Scout house. This is the area where I found the Indian Head penny the other day.

So I didn’t find silver but I pulled two more Buffalo nickels; a dateless D mint mark, and a 1938D. I also found a 1919S wheat penny. The area is quite large so I am still hopeful that I will find silver there.

I never get tired of digging these up!

Later I got another one, this one had a date!

Very nice Miner… I drove through that area the other day and thought to myself… Where would you even start??? It looks like you have found a good place!

The park is 120 years old. It has always been popular so you know 1000’s of people threaded through there. Pick a spot; any spot. That’s what I do. Sometimes I have to hit a place multiple times before it pays off.
Slow and overlapping swings will do it every time. All it takes is patience.
