Another War nickel

5 Aug

I stopped by my deep silver park this morning to give my XP Deus metal detector a workout. I spent about one hour and after digging a number of old milk bottle foil caps, I hit on my 5th war nickel for the year; 1945 S.

1945S

This beauty came out of the same spot that has yielded about 10 silvers and about 50 wheats plus a number of kid related relics. It seems to be a never ending sweet spot.

Thank you for looking!

Can we see some of the “kid-related” relics? I am digging a site where I find a LOT of old toys, and would love to compare.

      Suzi,
I stopped posting all the ‘relics’ I find at that park because I seem to find at least a couple at every hunt. For example, just recently I found a Lone Ranger safety patrol sheriff badge that seems to be from the 40’s or 50’s. Pins seem to be the most common find but I’ve also found cars, army men made of lead and pewter, marbles, jacks, etc. My guess is that there was a playground at the spot back in the 40’s or 50’s. This is reinforced in my mind by the 50+ wheat pennies I’ve dug up from there. The spot is barely 15ft x 15fx and it is sandy soil down to a foot or so compared with the nasty clay the rest of the park is made of. Unfortunately, I don’t keep a lot of the toy finds since most are not in that great a shape.
