The year is done and almost gone. It is safe to say that I won’t get another hunt in until sometime in 2014. I have learned a lot this year about my XP Deus metal detector. I also got the 11 inch coil which changed Maurice into a different machine. I am only sorry that I didn’t get it until the very last part of the year but heck, 2014 ought to be a more productive year.
I didn’t meet my goal for the year of 100 silver coins (found 59) nor did I meet my goal of finding a Seated coin. Alas it wasn’t for lack of trying! I will say however, that my hunting time was drastically reduced and in 2013 I did most of my hunting during my lunch hours and even that was somewhat hit and miss given my work situation. No excuses though; there are thousands of silver coins left in our city parks and I aim to find them all.
In 2013 I solidified some friendships and unfortunately, I lost some others. My health became my focus towards the end of the year when it became apparent that if I didn’t take care of business, I would have to seriously curtail my beloved hobby.
Other notable happenings in 2013 included the formation of the Wheat State Treasure Hunters metal detecting club. This was the brain child of my friend Steveouke and so far it has been much fun. Another one of Steve’s initiatives was the partnership with the city to conduct metal detecting classes. Steve just can’t help himself; he’s the consummate people person. He’s a good guy all around. Check out the telling of his shenanigans at his metal detecting blog: Stevessunkentreasures.wordpress.com.
Through the WSTH club, I’ve met additional people who love this hobby as much as I do and I look forward to our future meetings.
For 2014 I’ve set no goals other than to go out there and have some fun.
So without further ado, on to 2014!
Just wanted to wish you a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year….good hunting as well.
I wish I could say I found 59 silver coins…I am envious. Have a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year.
Thank you Dick! I wish you a great 2014 as well.
Thanks for the nice words Miner.. I have to be honest though I couldn’t have done it without your help, the help of the club, and the help of the manufacturers that have supported us in the chaos.
Aw Steve, you’re the Man and you know it.
