You may be getting tired of reading here about how I haven’t hunted in a while but something happened on Saturday that may change all that.
I was sitting at the computer working on my other hobby (language learning. currently learning Indonesian) when my youngest came and told me that it seemed like a good day to go metal detecting. I almost fell out of my chair! So I wasted no time and adjusted his Tesoro Compadre to fit him (I had used it at a club’s class and it was adult sized) and we headed out. Before we hit the door however, my oldest asked where we were going. He has not been too interested in metal detecting in the past so I didn’t expect the excited “I want to go too!” that I got from him. So out we went, my two boys and I, looking for buried treasure.
Alas, at the end it was too hot and, according to them, there were too many bugs but the treasure of spending an hour detecting with my sons has no possible monetary value. And we did find a clad dime, an old button, and a pre-1982 penny (my find).
I can only hope that this will be a regular occurrence this fall.
Thank you for stopping by!
That is just the kick in the butt you needed! The other day, my 18 year-old daughter asked me how many detectors I had. When I told her three, she said she wanted me to take her with me sometime. These kids may be onto something!
That’s great. Hard for the wife to get upset too when you are spending time with the kids.
